Cattle have always been at the very heart of the farm. Traditionally the cattle have grazed the marshes in the summer months moving into the cattle yards for the winter where they are fed hay from the marshes and by-products from the arable crops. The manure from the winter yards provides the fertility for the crops.
Cattle from the farm have been exhibited successfully at local and national shows. For many years calves have made an appearance at the village fete.
These big peaceful animals provide one of the most restful scenes on the farm, which is ‘cows lying down on the pasture contentedly chewing on a bright sunny day with a big blue sky’, perfect!
